Flu-like Syndrome
Overview
Flu-like syndrome refers to a collection of symptoms that resemble influenza but may be caused by various other conditions. These symptoms typically include fever, body aches, fatigue, and respiratory symptoms. While actual influenza is a common cause, many other infections and conditions can produce similar symptoms.
Common Symptoms
- Fever and chills: Often sudden onset
- Body aches and muscle pain: Generalized discomfort
- Fatigue and weakness: Profound tiredness
- Headache: Often severe
- Sore throat: Scratchy or painful
- Cough: Dry or productive
- Nasal congestion: Stuffy or runny nose
- Loss of appetite: Decreased desire to eat
- Nausea or vomiting: More common in children
- Sweating: Especially with fever breaks

- Influenza (flu): True flu virus
